Shockwave therapy & class iv laser therapy

We are pleased to be able to bring the latest in technology to our patients.  Both these technologies promote blood flow and speed the healing process.

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that triggers and accelerates the body’s own natural healing response. The shockwaves are mechanical and not electric. They are audible, low-energy sound waves, which work by increasing blood flow to the injured area. Shockwave therapy is a strong option for patients who suffer with chronic conditions. Many people report that their pain is reduced, and mobility improved after the first treatment.

Class IV Laser therapy works when the photon of laser light penetrate the skin and underlying tissue, they are absorbed by the cells and converted into energy. This energy is key in helping the cells to become normal and healthy. As the cell membrane permeability is altered, a cascade of cellular events is triggered including stimulation of ATP, Increased DNA & RNA synthesis, enhanced collagen synthesis and increased levels of beta-endorphins and serotonin.

Some of the conditions treated with Shockwave and or Class IV Laser include:
· Feet – heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis
· Elbow – tennis and golfers’ elbow
· Shoulder – calcific tendonitis of rotator cuff muscles
· Frozen Shoulder
· Trigger Finger
· Knee – patellar tendonitis
· Hip – bursitis
· Lower leg – shin splints
· Hamstring tears
· Upper leg – Iliotibial band friction syndrome
· Back pain – lumbar and cervical spine regions and chronic muscular pain
· Chronic Muscle tightness
· Calcifications

Most frequent questions and answers

Most patients with chronic pain issues have been through several types of therapies.  80% of patients that used Shockwave Treatment as part of their treatment plan reported it successful.

There may be a slight feeling of discomfort during the treatment, depending on the level of pain the patient is already experiencing in that area.  However, since the treatment only lasts about 5 minutes, most patients are able to tolerate this discomfort, additionally the intensity of the treatment can be adjusted throughout the session.

Class Iv Laser therapy does not require the use of drug

The number of treatments varies depending on the indication and tissue response. The effect of the treatment is cumulative, so you will typically need more than one (3–5) treatment. Very often though, you will experience relief right after the first treatment.

Most indications require about 6 treatments which are done 2-3 days apart, depending on the patient’s tolerance and their tissue response.
